Christmas Cookies

My favorite Christmas cookies would have to be Italian Chocolate Balls. I’ve made them twice this month already and am going to have to make them again soon. My mom’s recipe is on an old card, given to her by a friend long ago. I like it because the ingredients aren’t expensive, they’re quick and easy to make, and the flavor of these cookies is so good with the chocolate and the spices together. Enjoy!

Italian Chocolate Balls

6 cups flour
1 tsp. cloves
2 cups sugar
1 tsp. nutmeg
6 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
4 tbsp. cocoa powder
2 tsp. vanilla
1 ½ cups milk
1 cup chocolate chips
1 ½ cups raisins
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tbsp water (approx.)

Mix all the dry ingredients together with the butter, then add the milk and vanilla. Mix well, then add the chocolate chips and raisins. Roll into small balls and bake at 350 for 15 minutes. For frosting, mix powdered sugar with enough water to make a very thick syrup consistency. Spread on the cookies while warm.
